…Originally it referred to gypsies, who were thought to be Bohemian or of Bohemian origin, but it came to be the name for the young literary youth and young artists (bohème) who gathered in Paris during the July Monarchy in 1830, living a poor but free life. The group that was formed around 1835 included Nerval, Gautier, and Borel, and about ten years later, the group that was formed by Henri Murger (1822-61) and Champfleury.
