Ebino Plateau - Ebino Kogen

Japanese:
Ebino Plateau - Ebino Kogen

Located in the southwest of Miyazaki Prefecture, this basin-like plateau is about 1,200 meters above sea level and is surrounded by Mt. Karakuni, Mt. Shiratori, and Mt. Ebino. It is part of Ebino City. To the east, you can see the large crater of Mt. Karakuni and the fumes from Mt. Iou, and to the north are the crater lakes of Byakushiike, Rokukannonike, and Fudoike. Boulders are scattered around the area of Mt. Iou, clearly showing the characteristics of volcanic bombs released during eruptions. The vegetation includes red pine forests, mixed forests, as well as colonies of Nokaido (a nationally designated natural monument) and Miyamakirishi. The silver grass on the plateau is also dyed grape-pink due to the influence of the fumes, which explains the origin of the place's name. There is also Ebino Kogen Hot Springs and the Ebino Kogen Artificial Skating Rink. It is located in the center of Kirishima-Kinkowan National Park, and is served by the Kita Kirishima Toll Road and the Kobayashi-Ebino Kogen Makizono Prefectural Road.
