Hydraulics

A branch of mechanical engineering that deals with dynamic problems related to the movement of fluids such as water and air. It is also called "hydraulic engineering." It covers issues related to the design of water and gas pipes, and fluid machinery such as pumps and turbines, but the content is largely included in hydraulics.

機械工学の一分野で、水や空気などの流体の運動に関する力学的な諸問題を扱う学問。「すいりょくがく」ともいう。送水管やガス輸送管などの設計や、ポンプ、タービンなどの流体機械の設計などに関係する事項を対象とするが、内容的には水理学に含まれる部分が多い。
