Ebina Clan

Japanese:
Ebina Clan
A medieval samurai family whose main territory was Ebina-go, Takatsu County, Sagami Province. It is said that the family began when Suekane, a descendant of the Yokoyama clan of the Seven Clans of Musashi, was adopted by Sagami no Kami Minamoto no Arikane (or, according to another theory, Chikasue), lived in the area, and took the name Ebina. The family's name already appears in the Tale of the Hogen era, and after becoming a vassal of the Kamakura clan, they acquired land in various places and developed. Like other clans of the Yokoyama clan, they lost many of their family members in the Wada War in 1213 (Kenpo 1), but their descendants who moved to territories in the west prospered. One of the clans that inherited the name of the Yano Manor in Harima Province and the position of Nawaura Jito, also known as the Goshi, noticed that the rule of the manor lord was weak from the end of the Kamakura period to the Nanboku-cho period, and rebelled against the manor lord together with the Terada clan, who descended from the manor's development lord, and was labeled as a villain.
