...The mainstream of literature is lyric poetry, centered on devotional songs of the Shakt (a sect that preaches bhakti (devotion) to Lord Krishna, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu), and divine tales and devotional songs, centered on miracle stories of the Shakt (a sect that worships the goddess as the fundamental power of the world). Representative works of the former include the Krishna Hymn by Bol Chondidas (Baru Caṇḍīdās), and the lyric poetry of Chondidas and Bidyāpati (Bidyāpati). After the religious reform by Choitonno (Chaitanya) in the first half of the 16th century, this sect's lyric literature reached its heyday, and in the second half of the 16th century it produced such excellent poets as Gobinddas (Gobinddas) and Gyandas (Jnandas). *Some of the terminology that mentions "Bidyāpati" is listed below.
