 n-ary system - N-ary system (English spelling)

Japanese: n進法 - エヌしんほう（英語表記）n‐adic number system

^A method of expressing general natural numbers using a single natural number, n , as a unit. If we prepare symbols to represent 0 through n -1, then all natural numbers can be expressed using 1, n , n2 , n3 , ... as ^the first, second, third, ... digits, respectively. Any base system can be used to express natural numbers, but special ones are usually used. For example, when we normally express natural numbers, we use the digits 0 through 9 with 10 as the base. This is called the decimal system.

一つの自然数nを単位として一般の自然数を表す方法。0からn－1までを表す記号を用意すれば，1,n,n²,n³，……を，それぞれ1桁目，2桁目，3桁目，……の単位として，すべての自然数が表記できる。自然数を表記するためにはどの進法でもさしつかえないが，たいていは特別なものが使われる。例えば，われわれはふつうに自然数を表すとき，10を基本にして，0から9までの数字を使っている。これは十進法と呼ばれている。
