(1) When manufacturing cement using the wet process, the raw materials limestone and clay are mixed with water and crushed into a mud-like substance. The mixture is thoroughly mixed to adjust the composition, and then fired in a rotary kiln to produce cement. (2) For transportation or other purposes, coal, ore, etc. are powdered and mixed with water to make a mud-like substance. (1) 湿式法でセメントを製造する際，原料の石灰石，粘土に水を加えて粉砕した泥状物をさす。これをよくかき混ぜて，成分を調節したうえ，回転窯で焼成してセメントをつくる。 (2) 輸送などのため，石炭や鉱石などを粉末状にして，水と混ぜて泥状にしたもの。
