This victory monument from the time of Napoleon I stands in the center of Place de l'Etoile (now Place Charles de Gaulle) in Paris. It was planned in 1806 under the orders of the emperor, designed by Chalgrin, and completed in 1836 after revisions by Goouste and Percier. This huge monument, 50 meters high, 45 meters wide, and 22 meters deep, features reliefs on its walls by Ludes, including "La Marseillaise" (The March), Pradier, Corto, and Étex, making it a representative work of the neoclassical style of the time. Since 1920, the tomb of the Unknown Soldier has been placed directly under the arch, along with an eternal flame.

パリのエトアール広場（現在の名称はシャルル・ドゴール広場）の中央に建つナポレオン1世時代の戦勝記念碑。1806年皇帝の命令のもとにシャルグランの設計で計画され、グーストおよびペルシエの改案を経て36年に完成された。高さ50メートル、幅45メートル、奥行22メートルの規模をもつこの巨大な記念碑は、壁面にリュードの手になる「ラ・マルセイエーズ」（進軍）、プラディエ、コルト、エテックスらの浮彫り装飾をもち、当時の新古典主義様式を代表する作品となっている。大アーチの真下には1920年以来、永遠の灯とともに、無名戦士の墓碑が安置されている。
