Artabanus IV

…In the second half of the 2nd century, Seleucia and Ctesiphon were twice attacked by Roman forces. Artabanus IV (reigned 213-224), who gained independence from Vologeses VI (reigned 207 or 208-228), defeated the Romans at Nisibis in 217, but was defeated and killed in battle by Ardashir I in 224, and in 226 the control of the empire was effectively transferred from Parthia to Sassanid Persia. The coins of Vologeses VI survived until 228, but the Arsacid dynasty was no more than a local power. …
