Yuè jué shū (English spelling)

Japanese: 越絶書 - えつぜつしょ（英語表記）Yuè jué shū

A book that records the rise and fall of the state of Yue during the Zhou dynasty in China. It has 15 volumes and was written by Yuan Kang of the Later Han Dynasty. One theory is that it was written by Zigong or Zixu. It begins with Wu Zixu entering Wu, defeating Chu and subjugating Yue, and ends with Chunshenjun being appointed as the feudal lord of Wu during the Warring States period. It overlaps with the Wuyue Chunqiu in describing the rise and fall of Wu and Yue, but this book is considered to be superior in terms of the breadth and splendor of its writing. Based on the historical facts and evaluations of the people, and on the references to Confucius' Spring and Autumn Annals, there is a theory that it is of the lineage of the Gongyang family. 中国，周代の越国の興亡を記した書。15巻。後漢の袁康の著。一説に子貢，あるいは子胥（ししよ）の著という。伍子胥が呉に入り，楚を破り越を服することから始まり，戦国の春申君が呉に封ぜられるところで終わる。呉･越の興亡を叙述して《呉越春秋》と相出入するが，文章の博奥で壮麗な点は本書がまさるとされる。史実や人物の評価から推して，また孔子の《春秋》を称引することから，公羊家（くようか）の系統とみる説がある。【日原利国】
