One of the schools of tea ceremony founded by Fuhaku Kawakami (1716-1807), a disciple of Joshinsai, the 7th head of the Omotesenke school. He went to Edo by his teacher's orders, lived in Surugadai, and spread the Omotesenke tea ceremony. He is called Edo Senke or Fuhaku-ryu. He later moved his residence to the edge of the pond in Ueno, and has continued to be practiced to this day, but there are many branches.
