African Development Fund

...Based on decisions made by the General Affairs Committee and the Board of Directors, the Bank raises funds and lends money from the financial capital markets of Japan, the United States, and Europe, with lending terms based on market interest rates for a term of 20 years or less, with a grace period of 7 years or less.

Since the African Development Bank did not have a fund department with lenient lending conditions, requests from countries in the region for such funds increased, and after discussions between the DAC (Development Assistance Committee) countries and the African Development Bank, the African Development Fund was established in 1973. The general council and board of directors are almost the same as those of the African Development Bank, and the president and other officials also serve as directors.
