A city at the northern tip of Noto Peninsula, Ishikawa Prefecture. It was incorporated as a city in 1954. The central city is located on the delta of the Fugeshi River and the Kawarada River, and developed as a fishing port. Wajima lacquerware is a specialty of the city. There is Ama Town, where female divers live and migrate to Hegura Island seasonally. There are tourist spots belonging to the Noto Peninsula Quasi-National Park, such as the Tokikuni House and Sonogi Coast, in Shirayone, at the foot of Mt. Takasu in the eastern suburbs. It is a base for tourism in Oku-Noto, and the morning market held on Honmachi Street is famous. There are many facilities related to Wajima lacquerware, such as the Wajima Lacquer Art Museum. Sojiji Temple is located in the west. In July 2003, Noto Airport opened in the area that straddles Anamizu Town and Noto Town (now Noto Town). In February 2006, Monzen Town, Housu District, was incorporated into the city. In March 2007, the Noto Peninsula earthquake caused widespread damage to buildings and the production of Wajima lacquerware. ^{426.32 km2} . 29,858 people (2010).

石川県能登半島北端の市。1954年市制。中心市街は鳳至(ふげし)川と河原田(かわらだ)川との三角州上にあり，漁港として発達。輪島塗を特産。舳倉(へぐら)島へ季節的に移住する海女の住む海士(あま)町がある。東郊の高洲山山麓の白米(しらよね)には千枚田が展開，時国(ときくに)家や，曾々木海岸など能登半島国定公園に属する観光地がある。奥能登の観光基地となっており，本町通りで開かれる朝市が有名。輪島漆芸美術館など，輪島塗に関する施設も多い。西部には総持寺がある。2003年７月，穴水町と能都町（現・能登町）にまたがる地域に能登空港が開港。2006年２月鳳珠郡門前町を編入。2007年３月，能登半島地震の発生により建物や輪島塗の生産など広範に被害が及ぶ。426.32km²。２万9858人（2010）。
