A program for managing files on Windows in an easy-to-understand way. Its official name is Windows Explorer, but it is often abbreviated to simply Explorer. It can display drives, folders, and files connected to the computer in a hierarchical structure, and allows operations such as copying, moving, renaming, and running programs. Normally, when you select a folder in the area displayed on the left, its contents are displayed on the right (hidden by default in Windows XP). This area is called a pane. From Windows Vista onwards, a search box was added at the top, and a details pane was added at the bottom to display file information.

Windows上のファイルをわかりやすく管理するためのプログラム。正式にはWindows Explorerだが、単にエクスプローラーと略して呼ばれることが多い。コンピューターに接続されたドライブ、フォルダー、ファイルを階層構造で表示でき、コピーや移動、名前の変更、プログラムの実行といった操作を行える。通常、左側に表示される領域のフォルダーを選ぶと、右側にその内容が表示される（Windows XPの標準状態では非表示になっている）。この領域をペインと呼ぶ。Windows Vista以降からは、上部に検索ボックス、下部にファイルの情報を表示する詳細ペインが追加された。
