Li Shida (English spelling) Lǐ Shì dá

Japanese: 李士達 - りしたつ（英語表記）Lǐ Shì dá

A Chinese painter from the late Ming dynasty. Dates of birth and death unknown. His pen name was Tongfu. His pen names were Yanghuai and Yanghuai. He was from Wu County (Suzhou, Jiangsu Province). He was a Jinshi in 1574 (the second year of the Wanli era), but the official position is unknown. He was active in Suzhou and was so popular that nobles could not purchase his paintings even for large sums of money. In his later years, he retired to Xinkuo, and even at the age of 80, he was said to have been like a sage. He excelled in portraits and landscapes, and painted fantastical landscapes, which were popular in the Wanli period (1573-1619). An example of his work is A View of a Pavilion (1618, Tokyo, Seikado Bunko).

中国，明代後期の画家。生没年不詳。字は通甫。号は仰槐（よくかい），仰懐。呉県(江蘇省蘇州)の人。万暦2年(1574)の進士であるが，官は不明。蘇州で活躍し，貴顕たちは大金によってもその画作を入手できないほど人気があった。晩年は新郭に隠居し，80歳になっても仙人のようであったという。画は人物，山水を得意とし，万暦期(1573‐1619)の流行である奇想の山水画を描いた。作例に《山亭眺望図》(1618，東京，静嘉堂文庫)がある。
