Rental car (English: rent-a-car)

Rental car (English: rent-a-car)
Car rental with drop-off service. Around 1955, driving became popular among young people, and driving clubs that lent cars to those without their own cars sprung up. However, because of the constant accidents and crimes, the Ministry of Transport and the National Police Agency imposed strict conditions on permits in 1957, such as having at least 10 cars, having a garage, having a mechanic, and always keeping the cars in the best condition. However, from around 1962, the number of users increased dramatically with the wave of motorization, and not only leisure use but also business use increased. In 1965, Honda Kaihatsu Kogyo set up a nationwide network, leading the way, and the convenience of drop-off service became popular, and in 1966, the major manufacturers Toyota and Nissan also entered the market. In addition, "station rental cars" that tie up JR stations and rental car companies are also used. In addition, a lease car is a car that is rented to a specific person for a long period of time. The system was revised in 1989, and the number of lease cars has been increasing in recent years, and the market size is now larger than the rental car market.
