A Greek philosopher and mathematician who was a friend of Socrates and founded the Megarian school around 450-380 BC. The author of the Stoicheia is a different person, although he shares the same name. He was influenced by the Eleatic school, and pursued the close relationship between mathematics and philosophy through the problem of the one and the many, proposing his own philosophy that sees logic and mathematics as a method for the advancement and salvation of the soul. For this reason, he can be seen as being in the tradition of the Pythagorean school. No works remain except for fragments.
