Ryozen [town] - Ryozen

Japanese: 霊山[町] - りょうぜん

A former town in Date County in northeastern Fukushima Prefecture. It occupies the western foot of Mount Ryosen and borders Fukushima City to the east. Kakeda is its center, with silk and lumber factories. Mount Ryosen (a historic site and scenic spot) is 825m above sea level and is made up of granite and basaltic agglomerates, and its strange appearance has been created by erosion caused by wind and rain. On the summit are the remains of Kitabatake Akiie's Ryosen Castle and Ryosen Temple, and on the northwest foot of the mountain are Ryosen Shrine. In January 2006, it merged with Date Town, Yanagawa Town, Hobara Town, and Tsukidate Town in Date County to become a city, Date City. 87.33 ^km2 . 9,928 people (2003).

福島県北東部，伊達(だて)郡の旧町。霊山西麓を占め，福島市の東に接する。中心は掛田(かけだ)で，製糸・製材工場がある。標高825mの霊山（史跡・名勝）は花コウ岩と玄武岩質集塊岩などからなり，風雨による浸食により奇観を呈する。山頂に北畠顕家(きたばたけあきいえ)の霊山城跡や霊山寺跡，北西麓に霊山神社がある。2006年１月，伊達郡伊達町，梁川町，保原町，月舘町と合併し市制，伊達市となる。87.33km²。9928人（2003）。
