Protect the Right and Repel the Wrong

Japanese: 衛正斥邪 - えいせいせきじゃ

An institutional ideology in the late Joseon Dynasty of Korea that advocated protecting orthodox learning and rejecting evil learning. Domestically, Korean Neo-Confucianism was considered the only orthodox learning, and other Confucian trends and Buddhism were rejected as evil. Externally, based on the Hua-Yi ideology, Korea was recognized as Little China, and the Qing and other countries were viewed as barbarians. The Hua-Yi ideology was originally a Han Chinese worldview that distinguished the world into Hua and Barbarians based on the presence or absence of ritual, and considered their own country to be "China" with ritual, or "Chinese country," and other countries to be barbarians.

正学を衛（まも）り邪学を斥（しりぞ）けるという，朝鮮，李朝後期の体制的思想。国内的には，朝鮮朱子学を唯一の正学とし，朱子学以外の儒教の潮流および仏教を邪学として斥けた。対外的には，華夷思想に基づき，朝鮮を小中華と自認し，清その他の国々を夷狄視した。華夷思想とは，本来漢民族の世界観で，礼の有無によって世界を華と夷に弁別し，自国は礼が備わった〈中国〉，すなわち〈中華の国〉とし，他は夷狄とするものである。
