Wei Yuan-song (English spelling)

A man from the Northern Zhou Dynasty during the Northern and Southern Dynasties period in China. He was originally a monk, but later returned to secular life. In 567, together with the Taoist priest Zhang Bin, he persuaded Emperor Wu that Buddhism was harmful to the state, which led to the abolition of Buddhism. In 579, he also presented six articles of the "Conference to Anti-Buddhism," but this time it was not accepted. 中国，南北朝時代の北周の人。初め僧でのち還俗。天和2 (567) 年道士張賓とともに，武帝に仏教が治国に害があることを説き，廃仏を起させるきっかけをなした。大成1 (579) 年にも『破仏議』6条を奏したが，このときはいれられなかった。
