Japanese: リットニア - りっとにあ

A non-cold-tolerant bulbous plant of the lily family. Native to South Africa. It has underground rhizomes, and the stems grow thin and twisted, reaching a height of 1-2m. It has alternate glossy lanceolate leaves, the tips of which become tendrils and wrap around other plants. From July to September, it produces solitary, drooping orange bell-shaped flowers that bloom from the leaf axils. It is very similar to the fox lily genus Gloriosa , but can be distinguished by the fact that the petals do not evert. It is not widely cultivated in Japan. Its characteristics are very similar to those of the fox lily, and it can be cultivated in a similar manner.

ユリ科の非耐寒性球根植物。南アフリカ原産。地下に根茎があり，茎は細長くのびてからみつき，1～2mの高さとなる。光沢のある披針形葉を互生し，葉先は巻ひげとなり他物に巻きつく。7～9月に葉腋（ようえき）よりオレンジ色で鐘形の花を単生下垂して咲かせる。キツネユリ属Gloriosa(グロリオサ)によく似ているが，花弁が反転しないので区別される。日本ではあまり栽培されていない。性質はキツネユリによく似ており，栽培もこれに準じて行ってよい。
