A type of porcelain from the Joseon Dynasty in Korea. It is a hard white porcelain with decorations such as relief or openwork, and is rarely painted with cinnabar or iron glaze. It continued the traditions of the Goryeo Dynasty and was produced in various parts of Korea throughout the Joseon Dynasty. It is mainly made of vases, ritual vessels, and stationery, and early ones are often grayish white or milky white, while middle and later ones are often slightly bluish. The vessels are thick except for those made in the official kilns of Gwangju. Source: Encyclopaedia Britannica Concise Encyclopedia About Encyclopaedia Britannica Concise Encyclopedia Information |
