A type of joruri. It is a leading school founded by Toraya Eikan, a traditional Edo joruri puppeteer. Eikan was a tayu (courtesy performer) active from the end of the Kanbun era (1661-1673) to the beginning of the Genroku era (1688-1704), and in 1680 (Enpo 8) he performed "Bontenkoku" and "Demon King Extermination" for the shogun. He performed puppet shows in Sakai-cho, Edo, and is said to have had a dynamic style similar to Kinpira. "Matsu no Ha" published in Kyoto in 1703 (Genroku 16) contains three pieces, "Kokiden," "Tanzen Seigen," and "Kankatsu Ikkyu," while "Ochiyoushu" published the following year contains "Uwanariuchi," both of which are Eikan-bushi pieces, so it can be said that they were well received in the Kansai region as well. Today, only "Kankatsu Ikkyu" has been passed down as a jiuta (traditional folk song), but it is a piece with very few ups and downs.
