A fairy tale by the German-French author FHK Fouquet, published in 1811. The story is about a water nymph called Undine, who is loved by a knight and gains his soul. When her love is betrayed, she kills the knight, but becomes a beautiful stream that surrounds his grave and continues to embrace him forever. The story was later adapted into a play by the French playwright Giraudoux (Ondine, 1939).
