Undine (English spelling)

A fairy tale by the German-French author FHK Fouquet, published in 1811. The story is about a water nymph called Undine, who is loved by a knight and gains his soul. When her love is betrayed, she kills the knight, but becomes a beautiful stream that surrounds his grave and continues to embrace him forever. The story was later adapted into a play by the French playwright Giraudoux (Ondine, 1939). ドイツのフランス系作家 F.H.K.フケーの童話。 1811年刊。騎士に愛されて魂を得た水の妖精ウンディーネが，愛を裏切られて騎士を殺すが，その墓を取巻く美しい流れとなり，永遠に彼をいだき続けるという物語。のちフランスの劇作家ジロドゥが戯曲に翻案 (『オンディーヌ』 1939) した。
