Luoyang Dengakuki - Luoyang Dengakuki

A record from the Heian period written by Oe no Masafusa. It is a record of the Eichou Daidengaku held in Kyoto in July 1096 (Eichou 1). The original text is in classical Chinese, and as the opening line, "In the summer of the first year of the Eichou era, the Daidengaku of Luoyang took place, and no one knew where it was happening," makes it clear that the description is general and critical. Masafusa, who served as a court tutor and was a leading scholar and administrator of the time, described the turmoil that culminated in the Gion Festival, when dengaku troupes from the countryside engulfed the whole of Kyoto. He described the dengaku organized by Emperor Shirakawa as an unacceptable, crazy act, and, in relation to the sudden death of the dengaku-loving princess Ikuhomon'in, he commented on the times by saying, "The strangeness of the world is sprout-ing beyond human power." Along with "Chuuyuki" and "Kojidan," it is a valuable source in the history of Dengaku.

平安時代の記録書。大江匡房(おおえのまさふさ)著。1096年（永長1）7月、京都で行われた永長(えいちょう)大田楽の記録。原文は漢文で、「永長元年の夏、洛陽大田楽のことあり、その起こるところを知らず」の書き出しでもわかるように、記述は総括的、評論風である。宮廷の侍講(じこう)を務め、当代一流の学者兼行政官であった匡房は、祇園(ぎおん)祭を頂点に郷村からの田楽団が京中を巻き込んだ騒動を述べ、白河院の催した田楽をあるまじき狂態だと評し、田楽好きの皇女郁芳門院(いくほうもんいん)の急逝に関連させて、「妖異(ようい)の萌(きざ)すところ人力及ばず」と時世を論評している。『中右記(ちゅうゆうき)』『古事談』とともに、田楽史上貴重な資料である。
