This Paleolithic site is located on the Uwaba Plateau at an altitude of 450m in Kami-Okawauchi, Izumi City, Kagoshima Prefecture, where Jomon pottery has also been found in the topsoil layer. It was discovered by Ikemizu Kanji, and five excavations were carried out between 1966 and 1974, resulting in many discoveries in the Paleolithic chronology of southern Kyushu. Beneath the topsoil layer containing the Jomon pottery is a second layer of yellowish brown loam, and microblades, microblade cores, and claw-shaped pottery have been found mainly in the lower part of this second layer. In addition, the yellowish brown clayey loam layer, mainly the fourth layer, is home to mainly trapezoidal and knife-shaped stone tools, with scrapers and paddles also unearthed.

鹿児島県出水市上大川内，標高450mの上場高原にある旧石器時代の遺跡で，表土層で縄文式土器も発見されている。池水寛治が発見し，1966年から74年にかけて5次にわたる発掘が行われ，南九州の旧石器時代編年に多くの成果が得られた。表土層の縄文式土器の包含された層の下に，黄褐色のローム質の第2層があり，この第2層の下部を中心として細石刃，細石刃核，爪形文土器が発見されている。また第4層を中心とした黄褐色粘質ローム層では台形石器，ナイフ形石器が主体で，削器，搔器も出土している。
