…In Western music, seven syllables are used: do, re, mi, fa, sol, la, si. Its origin is said to be from the early 11th century, when Guido D'Arezzo assigned six notes (ut, re, mi, fa, sol, la) that rise one note from C to the first syllable of each subsection of the poem Ut queant laxis (around the 8th century) of the St. John's hymn. There are other theories, however. …西洋音楽では，ド，レ，ミ，ファ，ソ，ラ，シの7シラブルsyllableが用いられる。その起源については，11世紀初頭にグィード･ダレッツォが，聖ヨハネ賛歌《ウト･クエアント･ラクシスUt queant laxis》の詩(8世紀ころ)の各小区分第1シラブルに，ハから1音ずつ上がってゆく6音(ut,re,mi,fa,sol,la)を当てはめたことに由来するといわれるが，異説もある。この6シラブルは当初，ハのほかト，ヘの各音上の6音音階(ヘクサコルド)の階名として使われていたが，やがてハ音上に固定されるようになった。…
