Japanese: 有機金属化学 - ゆうききんぞくかがく（英語表記）organometallic chemistry

A general term for chemistry that deals with organometallic compounds (compounds with a direct bond between metal and carbon). It can be divided into four main fields. (a) The properties of organometallic compounds are used to develop synthetic reactions that were previously difficult to perform, and these are applied to the synthesis of natural organic compounds and pharmaceuticals. One example is the asymmetric hydrogenation reaction using an asymmetric rhodium catalyst. Equation (1) shows the asymmetric synthesis of L-dopa (a miracle drug for Parkinson's disease). (b) The catalytic action of organometallic compounds is used to synthesize industrially important raw materials such as formaldehyde, methyl alcohol, ethyl alcohol, and acetic acid from carbon monoxide.

有機金属化合物(金属と炭素の直接結合をもつ化合物)を扱う化学の総称。主として四つの分野に分けることができる。(a)有機金属化合物の性質をうまく利用して，従来困難であった合成反応を開発し，それを天然有機化合物や医薬品などの合成に応用する分野。一例として，不斉ロジウム触媒による不斉水素化反応があげられる。式(1)にL‐ドーパdopa(パーキンソン病の特効薬)の不斉合成を示す。(b)有機金属化合物の触媒作用を利用して，一酸化炭素からホルムアルデヒド，メチルアルコール，エチルアルコール，酢酸など工業的に重要な原料を合成する分野。
