Yamanouchi [town] - Yamanouchi
A town in Shimotakai District, northeastern Nagano Prefecture. It occupies the Yomase River basin, the Shiga Highlands and the mountainous region to the north. The town is centered around Yudanaka Onsen (pure salt springs, 49-97°C), and is the gateway to the Yamanouchi Onsen area, which includes Shibu, Kanbayashi, Hoppo, Kumanoyu, and other hot springs, as well as Joshin'etsu Highlands National Park, which includes Shiga Highlands. The Nagano Electric Railway runs through the town. Area: 265.90 km2 . Population: 13,678 (2010).
