By Sugita Genpaku. 3 volumes. Unpublished manuscript. Written in 1807 (Bunka 4). A dialogue-style work between the author and a shadow figure, with the same theme as "Kagekage Yawa." The author was outraged by the hatamoto vassals who had become accustomed to peace and had become weak, and by the daimyo who were indulging in luxury, and considered fundamental measures to correct this. He went beyond commenting on the state of the world to harshly criticizing the shogunate's politics and discussing positive measures for foreign policy. He also discussed the defense of Edo. Due to its nature, this work was hidden in a case and not made public. [Katagiri Kazuo]

杉田玄白著。3巻。未刊写本。1807年(文化4)作。《形影夜話》と同趣向の，影法師と自分との問答形式の作。太平に慣れ，柔弱となった旗本や奢侈に耽溺している諸大名に憤激し，その根本的是正策を考え，世相の論評から進んで幕府政治に対する痛烈な批判を行い，外政に対する積極的手段を論じた書。江戸の防備についても論じる。本書はその性質上筐底（きようてい）に秘められ公開されなかった。【片桐一男】
