In fact, most of the names with the name Moroko, both in Japanese and dialect, refer to small, slender-bodied fish in the family Cyprinidae of the order Cypriniformes. There is no fish with the Japanese name Moroko. In dialect, Moroko refers to different types of fish depending on the region. Along the shores of Lake Biwa, it refers to the Hon Moroko, and is used in expressions such as Moroko fishing and Moroko hiki (pulling) (net).
