Date of birth and death unknown. The person who is said to have founded Kōwakamai. The name Kōwakamai is said to have originated from Naoaki's childhood name, Kōwakamaru. According to the genealogy, his grandfather was Momoi Naotsune, a military commander in the Hokuriku region during the Nanboku-chō period (1336-92). After his father's death, at the age of 10, he left Echizen (eastern Fukui prefecture) to study under Korinbo Senshin at Mount Hiei, and it is said that Kōwakamai began when he sang a melody based on a traditional Japanese story. However, this genealogy was written later in life, and there are many doubts about whether Momoi Naotsune was the founder of Kōwakamai.
