Momijiyama

Japanese: 紅葉山 - もみじやま
Momijiyama
A small hill between the Honmaru and Nishimaru of Edo Castle. It is also written as Kaedeyama. The mausoleums of successive Shoguns, including Tokugawa Ieyasu, were built there and were called Otamaya. Every year on April 17th, the anniversary of Ieyasu's death, the Shogun would visit the hill. Momijiyama musicians were present for the ceremony, and Momijiyama monks were present at the mausoleum. The Momijiyama Fire Guard was also in charge of security. → Momijiyama Library
