Kabuki dance piece. Tokiwazu. Original title: "Negai no Itoenishi no Odamaki (Wish Thread Edge Odamaki)". First performed in 1833 at the Edo Kawarazakiza Theatre. This piece is a Tokiwazu adaptation of "Michiyuki Koi Odamaki (Doyuki Love Odamaki)" ("Michiyuki on Imoseyama"), the fourth act of the Gidayu piece "Imoseyama Onna Teikin (Teikin)" by Chikamatsu Hanji. Written by Takada Jusuke and composed by Kishizawa Ichizo. This piece skillfully turns the love triangle between Eboshi Oremoto Onna (actually Fujiwara Tankai), her enemy Soga no Iruka's younger sister Tachibanahime, and Sugi sake merchant's daughter Omiwa into a Joruri play using the prop of an Odamaki thread tied to the hem of the other woman's dress, and contrasts the love between Tachibanahime and Omiwa, women of different social classes. In recent years, many performances have been based on the original Gidayu style.
