Moquette - Moquette (English spelling)

A type of warp pile fabric (fleece fabric), it is used for high-quality chair fabrics and vehicle seat fabrics with raised nap on the surface. The ground weave of this fabric is tightly woven using cotton yarn in both the warp and weft, and the pile yarn that appears on the surface is often made of high-quality worsted yarn. To raise the pile, a concave thin metal rod is woven into the fabric, and the fabric is raised by cutting along the concave groove. A fabric with long pile yarn is called brush, and one made with high-quality mohair yarn is called terrump.

経(たて)パイル織物（添毛織物）の一種で、織物表面に立毛を有する高級な椅子生地(いすきじ)や、車両の座席用の生地。その織物の地織は、経緯(たてよこ)ともに綿糸を使い強固に織り上げ、表面に出るパイル糸には上等な梳毛(そもう)糸を使うことが多い。経パイルを立毛するには凹型の細金棒を織り込み、その凹型溝に沿ってカッティングすると立毛する。またパイル糸の毛足の長いものをブラッシュといい、上等なモヘア糸を使ったものをテレンプという。
