Cotton Field Affairs - Menpoyoumu

A study of cotton cultivation. Written by Okura Nagatsune. Published in 1833 (Tenpo 4). His 18th book. It consists of two volumes, Ken and Kon, and the cover reads, "This is a book that describes in detail how cotton is grown in various regions." The Ken volume describes the anatomy, classification, simple processing, sales, climate, varieties, seed collection, land preparation, seed treatment, and fertilizer of cotton. The Kon volume touches on cotton cultivation, picking and drying, and then goes on to provide detailed descriptions of the actual conditions in Himeji, Tamashima, Hayashima, Fukuyama, Osaka (Otori County), Gojo area in Nara, and eastern Osaka. There is also a section on "Debating the quality of cotton at a cotton wholesaler in Osaka," which describes the quality of cotton in various regions and its transportation. The contents are concrete and practical.

綿作研究書。著者は大蔵永常(おおくらながつね)。1833年（天保4）刊行。彼の18番目の著作。乾(けん)・坤(こん)二巻よりなり、表紙に「諸国綿のつくりかたを委(くわ)しく記したる書也(なり)」と書かれている。乾の巻には、ワタの解剖、分類、簡単な加工、販売、風土、気候、品種、採種、地拵(じごしら)え、種処理、肥料について述べ、坤之巻では、綿作心得、綿摘みと乾燥などに触れ、続いて、姫路、玉嶋、早嶋辺、福山辺、大坂（大鳥郡）、奈良五條(ごじょう)付近、大坂東部などの実態を細かく記載している。また「大坂の綿問屋で綿品質の善悪を論ずる」項があり、各地の綿の品質、その輸送などについて述べている。内容は具体的、実際的である。
