Umanoyama Kofun Group

Japanese: 馬山古墳群 - うまのやまこふんぐん

A group of ancient tombs on Umayama Hill in Hashizu, Hawai-cho, Tohaku-gun, Tottori Prefecture. Also known as the Hashizu Tomb Group, it consists of five keyhole-shaped tombs and 17 circular tombs. It was designated a historic site in 1957. Tomb No. 4 is a west-facing keyhole-shaped tomb from the late 4th century, 110m long, 58m in diameter at the rear, and 35m wide at the front, and is surrounded by roofing stones and cylindrical haniwa clay figures. Excavations in 1956 revealed that a vertical stone chamber and a box-shaped stone coffin are side-by-side in the rear, and that the front also contains three box-shaped stone coffins, two cylindrical haniwa coffins, and one cylindrical clay coffin.

鳥取県東伯郡羽合（はわい）町橋津の馬山丘陵上にある古墳群。橋津古墳群ともいい，前方後円墳5基，円墳17基からなる。1957年史跡指定。そのうち第4号墳は，西面する4世紀後半の前方後円墳で，全長110m，後円部径58m，前方部幅35mあり，葺石（ふきいし）および円筒埴輪をめぐらしている。1956年の発掘により，後円部に竪穴式石室と箱式石棺とを並設しているほか，前方部にも箱式石棺3個，埴輪円筒棺2個，埴製円筒棺1個の陪葬があることが判明した。
