A national athletics tournament held annually or every other year for 20 years from 1924 to 1943, with the main venue being the Meiji Jingu Gaien Stadium in Tokyo. The first tournament took place over five days from October 30th, with 3,144 athletes participating. However, the name was changed from the original "Meiji Jingu Athletic Tournament" to the "Meiji Jingu Athletic Tournament" for the third tournament in 1926, and then to the "Meiji Jingu National Athletic Tournament" from the 10th tournament in 1939, and finally to the "Meiji Jingu National Training Tournament" for the 13th tournament in 1942 and the 14th tournament in 1943. 1924年から43年までの20年間,東京の明治神宮外苑競技場を主会場として毎年あるいは1年おきに開催された国家的な総合体育大会。第1回大会は,10月30日から5日間,参加選手3144人によって開催された。ただし名称は最初の〈明治神宮競技大会〉を,1926年の第3回大会に〈明治神宮体育大会〉と改称し,さらに39年の第10回大会からは〈明治神宮国民体育大会〉,末期の42年第13回大会および43年の第14回大会は〈明治神宮国民錬成大会〉と改称した。
