This complex site is located in Nakasone Murogawahara, Okinawa City, in the central part of Okinawa Island. It has been correlated with the pre-, post-, and final Jomon periods, and prehistoric remains that can be dated to the Yayoi period or later have been identified in different locations. The site is formed in a field in the center of a gentle slope that spreads out below the cliff at the northeastern end of a limestone plateau, and is about 90m above sea level. The stratigraphy varies depending on the location, but is generally about seven layers in total. A reddish-brown burnt soil layer spreads over the entire surface of the middle layer, and on top of that is dark brown soil corresponding to the final Jomon period (Murokawa upper layer type, Usahama type), and below that is a mixed shell soil layer corresponding to the later period (Iha type, Ogido type, Oyama type, Murokawa type, Kayauchibanta type, etc.), and the bottommost bed contains Murokawa lower layer type pottery from the end of the early period.
