Alopecia - alopecia

This condition refers to a congenital absence or very little hair growth, and can be generalized or localized. Typical examples are hidrotic and anhidrotic ectodermal dysplasia. Monilethrix hair, which is a bead-like growth, and hair fragility in amino acid metabolism disorders such as arnigine succinic aciduria, hyperlysinemia, and methioninuria, are also causes of hypotrichosis. Localized hair follicle defects include agenesis cutis and sebaceous nevus. Female vulvar atrichosis is a condition in which the soft hair on the vulva does not become terminal even during puberty, and can be made terminal by simply applying testosterone ointment to the area. Localized atrichosis is treated with excision, suture, or hair transplantation depending on the size of the hair, but in generalized cases, prosthetic hair is recommended. Alopecia is when hair falls out and disappears.

先天性に毛が生えていないかわずかしかないものをいい、汎発(はんぱつ)性のものと限局性のものがある。有汗性および無汗性外胚葉(はいよう)形成異常症が代表的である。連珠状をなす連珠毛や、アルニギン・コハク酸尿症、高リジン血症、メチオニン尿症などのアミノ酸代謝異常では毛髪が折れやすいことも乏毛の一因となっている。限局性毛包欠損には皮膚無形成症、脂腺母斑(しせんぼはん)などがある。女子外陰部無毛症は、思春期になっても外陰部の軟毛が硬毛化しないもので、局所にテストステロン軟膏(なんこう)を塗るだけで硬毛化する。限局性無毛症はその大きさにより切除、縫縮や植毛術が行われるが、汎発性のものは義髪装用が勧められる。なお、生えていた毛が抜けてなくなったものは脱毛症である。
