[Died] 1329. Italian writer, historian, and politician from Chioggia. A pioneer of the humanist movement, he developed cultural activities centered on the city of Padua, and from 1312 to 1328, he participated in the battle for Padua against the Scaliger Cangrande. Along with Compagni and G. Villani, he was one of the greatest historians of his time, and is said to have been the one who made the transition from chronicles to history. His main work was De gestis Henrici VII Caesaris (16 volumes), a compilation of the historical facts from 1311 to 13.

イタリアの文学者，歴史家，政治家。人文主義運動のさきがけをなし，パドバ市を中心とする文化活動を展開，1312～28年にはスカラ家のカングランデに対抗しパドバの攻防戦に加わった。コンパーニ，G.ビッラーニとともに当時最大の歴史家であり，彼によって年代記から歴史への転換がなされたといわれる。主著は 1311～13年の史実をまとめた『エンリコ7世武勲の歴史』 De gestis HenriciVIICaesaris (16巻) 。
