Whip snake - Whip snake
A general term for whip-like, non-venomous snakes belonging to the Colubridae family. Eight species of the Masticophis (whip snake) are found in North and Central America, while about 34 species of the Coluber (racer) are found in Europe, North Africa, Asia, and North America. They are usually about 1 to 1.8 meters long, with a slender, flexible body and tail. They have a slightly flattened, wide head, a narrow neck, and large eyes. They are terrestrial and agile, and are considered to be one of the fastest running snakes.
