Bohemian waxwing (English spelling: Bombycilla garrulus)

Bohemian waxwing (English spelling: Bombycilla garrulus)
Passerine, Waxwing family. Total length 20cm. The tips of the black tail feathers are bright yellow and stand out, which explains the name. It is stocky overall, and the crest (→ crest), head, back, chest and belly are very light brown with a burgundy hue. The lower back to the upper tail feathers are very light brown with a bluish hue, and the center of the throat and the eye line are black. The wings are generally black, the tips of the primary coverts are white, and the tips of the primary flight feathers are yellow. At the tips of the secondary flight feathers are small red protuberances that are just the rachis. When the wings are closed, they come together and look like red sealing wax used to seal letters, which is why it was given its English name. It breeds widely in forests in the high latitudes of the Northern Hemisphere, and spends the winter in the mid-latitudes of Europe, Asia, and North America. It migrates to Japan every year as a winter bird (→ migratory bird), but the places and numbers of migration vary greatly from year to year. They can be found in groups in low mountains, forests on flatlands, urban forests, parks, and gardens, and in addition to the fruits of mistletoe, ivy, and ivy, they also like to come down to the ground to eat the fruits of Ophiopogon. They are loved for their fearlessness and beautiful appearance and plumage. In the same waxwing family, there is the red waxwing, which has a similar body shape but has red tips on its tail feathers, flight feathers, and talons.
