A former town in Miyoshi County in the northwest of Tokushima Prefecture. It occupies the northern bank of the upper reaches of the Yoshino River, on the southern slope of the Sanuki Mountains. The main settlement is Hiruma, located on an alluvial fan, and is served by the Tokushima Line. In addition to producing rice, wheat, and tobacco, the town also engages in dairy farming and the cultivation of eggplants, melons, tomatoes, and other crops. 徳島県北西部,三好郡の旧町。吉野川上流の北岸,讃岐(さぬき)山脈の南斜面を占める。主集落は扇状地にある昼間で,徳島線が通じる。米,麦,タバコを産するほか,酪農,ナス・メロン・トマトなどの栽培を行う。2006年3月,三好郡三加茂町と合併し町制,三好郡東みよし町となる。54.84km2。6459人(2003)。
