Miyata [village] - Miyada
A village in Kamiina County, southern Nagano Prefecture. Population 8,103 (1995). Located in the center of the Ina Basin, on the west bank of the upper reaches of the Tenryu River, it borders Ina City to the north and Komagane City to the east and south. During the Edo period, it was part of Takato Domain, and Miyata-juku on the Ina Highway was located here. The eastern part of the town is lined with river terraces along the Tenryu River, and the JR Iida Line, National Route 153, and the Chuo Expressway run through it. Agriculture is centered on rice, flowers, and fruit cultivation. In recent years, metal and precision machinery factories have been established here, and the population is gradually increasing. The western part is mountainous, part of the Kiso Mountains, with Mount Komagatake towering at its western end, and there is a hiking trail from Miyataguchi.

長野県南部,上伊那郡の村。人口8103(1995)。伊那盆地中央部,天竜川上流西岸に位置し,北は伊那市,東と南は駒ヶ根市に接する。江戸時代は高遠藩領で,伊那往還の宮田宿が置かれた。東部は天竜川の河岸段丘が開け,JR飯田線,国道153号線が通り,中央自動車道も走る。米作,花卉・果樹栽培を中心に農業が営まれる。近年,金属,精密機械などの工場が立地し,人口も漸増している。西部は木曾山脈の山岳地帯で,西端に駒ヶ岳がそびえ,宮田口からの登山コースがある。
