A village in Hata district in the southwest of Kochi Prefecture. Population 1986 (1995). Surrounded by Nakamura city, Sukumo city, and Tosashimizu city, Kaigamori (455m) rises at the northern end and Konnoyama (865m) at the southern end. The central part is a basin-like plateau, and the Shimonokae River flows southeastward with tributaries, with cultivated land scattered throughout the river basin. In early modern times, it was called Mihara-go, and was once a mountain village area producing charcoal and timber, with the headman Ikushiro family living in Yunoki. A road connecting the southern part of Hata district with Nakamura passed through the village, and guard posts were established at Yunoki and Kaminagatani.
