A former town in Minamikawachi County, central Osaka Prefecture. The Hanwa Expressway runs through the town. Rice and vegetable cultivation is the norm, but steel and metal factories have been established and the town is rapidly urbanizing. The Osaka Wood Industrial Park is located in the Habikino Hills in the south. Incorporated into Sakai City in February 2005. Area: 13.20 km2 . Population: 38,361 (2003). 大阪府中部，南河内郡の旧町。阪和自動車道が通じる。米作，野菜栽培などを行うが，鉄鋼，金属などの工場が進出し，都市化が著しい。南部の羽曳野丘陵には大阪木材工業団地がある。2005年２月堺市へ編入。13.20km2。３万8361人（2003）。
