Water that contains a lot of minerals or carbon dioxide. Also called mineral water. In Europe, it is customary to drink water from mineral springs (hot springs) because it is believed to be good for your health. Since there is little good quality water in the general public, mineral water is highly valued and is bottled and used for the table (eau de table). The mineral waters of Evian-les-Bains (Évian water), Vichy (Vichy water), and Vittel (Vittel water) in France are particularly famous. Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
