Water that contains a lot of minerals or carbon dioxide. Also called mineral water. In Europe, it is customary to drink water from mineral springs (hot springs) because it is believed to be good for your health. Since there is little good quality water in the general public, mineral water is highly valued and is bottled and used for the table (eau de table). ミネラル(無機質)あるいは炭酸ガスを多く含んだ水。鉱泉水ともいう。ヨーロッパでは健康によいとして鉱泉(温泉)の水を飲用する習慣があり,また一般の水は良質なものが少ないため,鉱泉水が高く評価され,瓶詰にして食卓用(eau de table)に利用されている。なかでもフランスのエビアン・レ・バン(エビアン水Évian),ビシー(ビシー水Vichy),ビッテル(ビッテル水Vittel)で採取される鉱泉水は有名である。
