Mithridates [VI] - Mithridates
King of Pontus in Asia Minor (reigned from about 120 BC to 63 BC). Also known as Mithradates, he was commonly referred to as "the Great." He took control of all of Asia Minor, challenged Rome's dominance of the eastern Mediterranean, and started the three Mithridatic Wars from 88 BC to 63 BC. He was defeated by Pompey and committed suicide.
