An old town in Nishiuwa District, Ehime Prefecture, bordering the south of Yawatahama City and facing the Uwa Sea. Pig farming and citrus cultivation are thriving here. The port has long been a fishing base, and yellowtail, sea bream, and flounder are farmed here. Shipping and sewing industries are also thriving. In April 2004, it merged with Akehama Town, Uwa Town, Nomura Town, and Shirokawa Town in Higashiuwa District to form Seiyo City. Area 41.36 km2 . Population 9,058 (2003).
